The Right Deals Helped Convince Cleveland’s Dealer Tire to Stay Home

The inSITE Process for Corporations

Dealer Tire, a privately held company that manages replacement tire and maintenance parts for car dealers, has its roots in downtown Cleveland.  So when the company, founded in 1918, needed additional space for its growing business and employee base, its intention wasn’t to pull up and leave town but only to find the best space in the best place at the best price.

Co-owners Dean and Scott Mueller turned to inSITE Advisory Group for help.  And they turned in the right direction. As economic development consultants, inSITE, uses its expertise to assist firms of all sizes find the right development site and secure the best incentive packages.

As Dealer Tire began to evaluate its options, one of which was a move to Nashville, inSITE went to work.  The inSITE team ultimately identified a better location, Cleveland’s historic Victory Center on Euclid Avenue, and then led the tax incentive negotiations with the city, the state and JobsOhio that provided tax increment financing, low-interest loans, and grants totaling more than $6.5 million.

The Muellers decided on a long-term lease of the property.  With the increased office and parking space, Dealer Tire expects to add 100-plus jobs over the next few years and expand its payroll to $60 million.  A win-win for the company, the city, the county and the state.  And another example of how inSITE can provide answers for public-private partnerships.
